About The Society
The Calon Lan Society was founded in March 2018 when a group of residents in Treboeth decided that the centenary since the death of Daniel James Gwyrosydd was rapidly approaching and should be commemorate in some way. These local residents gathered together at the Kings Head Pub to plan an event to mark the event on the 16th March 2020; however what grew from that initial meeting was much bigger.
After discussions the group agreed to formerly create The Calon Lan Society as a way to promote the song, history, heritage and people involved in writing it. Since its inception the Society is now supported by community groups, local business, historians, Welsh celebrities and people from all over the world.
